First Middle School Class Introduced
Theme-Based Lessons with Native Speakers
Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul is recruiting students for the "2025 Summer Vacation English Experience Class" in collaboration with Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, aiming to enhance students' practical English skills and foster a global mindset. Applications will be accepted from 11:00 a.m. on June 13 to 11:00 a.m. on June 25.
This English Experience Class will be led by native-speaking instructors from the HUFS TESOL Professional Education Center, assisted by current student teaching assistants, and will offer theme-based experiential lessons. The program is designed to help students naturally acquire English, drawing on 70 years of expertise in foreign language education.
This year, a "middle school class" will be offered for the first time, drawing attention. Reflecting the high satisfaction and ongoing demand for the program, which has previously focused on elementary students, the class will provide quality English experiential education during the crucial period of middle school, when continuity in English learning is important.
Classes will begin on July 28 (Monday) at the HUFS Seoul Campus. The elementary class will run for 11 days until August 9 (Saturday), with 7 hours per day (including 1 hour for lunch). The middle school class will run for 10 days until August 8 (Friday), with 3 hours per day.
Eligible participants are students in grades 3 to 6 of elementary school and grades 1 to 3 of middle school who are registered residents of Dongdaemun-gu. Class placement will be determined through a pre-program level test. A total of 183 students will be selected (128 for the elementary class and 55 for the middle school class), including low-income students recommended by local community centers or schools. The participation fee is 800,000 won for the elementary class (400,000 won self-payment) and 600,000 won for the middle school class (300,000 won self-payment). Low-income students may participate free of charge.
Dongdaemun-gu Mayor Lee Pilhyung stated, "As the importance of English education continues to grow, we will continue to provide various programs and support to nurture global talent," adding, "We will make ongoing efforts to establish Dongdaemun-gu as an 'education city that is great for raising children.'"
