Seo Jungwook, a conservative political commentator and attorney, claimed on YTN Radio the previous day, "Based on my reporting and the information I have gathered, it appears that around next year, former Daegu Mayor Hong Junpyo and Representative Lee Junseok are planning to create a new party to restructure the conservative bloc."

He added, "Close associates are openly saying that Hong Junpyo would run for Seoul mayor, while Representative Lee Junseok would run for Gyeonggi governor, in an effort to stir up momentum and reorganize the conservative camp."

In response, Lee stated, "I have never considered running for Gyeonggi governor or similar options," emphasizing, "I am solely focused on handling overdue constituency affairs for the residents of Dongtan and working hard to encourage the participation of new political forces in the upcoming local elections."

He added, "Efforts to expand party membership are also ongoing."
