Additional Education Planned in Collaboration with Local Universities in the Second Half of the Year

Cheonan City Holds Pet Loss Syndrome Prevention Education Program

On June 11, the city of Cheonan in South Chungcheong Province announced that it had conducted a pet loss syndrome prevention education program in collaboration with 21gram, a company specializing in pet funerals.

This education session was held the previous day at the city's animal protection center, aiming to provide tailored information for the psychological well-being of pet owners who are either suffering from the loss of their pets or preparing for farewell.

The program consisted of a veterinarian's lecture on pet health management throughout their life cycle, followed by a session on coping with pet loss syndrome and counseling, led by a funeral director from 21gram.

An official from the city's livestock division stated, "There were many participants experiencing severe symptoms of the syndrome during the session," adding, "In the second half of the year, we plan to expand the scale of the education by collaborating with local universities through the RISE (Regional Innovation System & Education) project."

Meanwhile, since February, the city has been running a project in partnership with 21gram to support funeral services for pets belonging to vulnerable groups.

The support covers a total of 300,000 won out of the basic funeral fee of 350,000 won, with the city providing 200,000 won, 21gram covering 100,000 won, and the pet owner paying the remaining 50,000 won.
