Busan City Targets Companies in Osaka and Fukuoka, Launches Investment Attraction Project

Busan City is actively pursuing overseas investment attraction projects by visiting the Osaka and Fukuoka regions in Japan.

The city announced on June 11 that, led by its Investment Promotion Division, it will visit local Japanese companies from June 10 to 13 to explain Busan’s investment environment and discuss cooperation plans for entering the Korean market.

In Osaka, the delegation visited SANVI, a functional sportswear manufacturing company. During the meeting, the city introduced Busan’s investment environment to attract logistics and R&D centers.

SANVI, established in 1953, supplies products to leading Japanese sports brands through ODM arrangements and also operates its own brand. Recently, the company has been exploring potential collaboration with Descente, a Japanese company that has an R&D center in Myeongji, Busan. SANVI is reportedly considering entering Busan, showing interest in using Busan New Port as a logistics hub.

Next, in Fukuoka, the delegation will continue discussions with CYFUSE, a company that possesses bio 3D printer technology. CYFUSE is gaining attention in Japan for its 3D printing technology that produces biomaterials such as artificial cells and organs.

Since winning the Japan Venture Award and the Tokyo Venture Technology Grand Prize in 2019, CYFUSE has been conducting joint research with the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED) and is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Growth Market. The city expects that attracting CYFUSE, which has advanced technologies such as artificial cell blood vessels and three-dimensional neural conduits, will have a significant impact on the local bioindustry ecosystem in Busan.

The city also plans to visit the Fukuoka Association of Small Business Managers to request participation from local economic organizations, in preparation for an investment promotion briefing session and a Korea-Japan business meeting for companies in the Kyushu region scheduled for the second half of the year.

A member of the Busan City delegation emphasized, "Busan, Osaka, and Fukuoka are regions with active human and material exchanges," adding, "Through this visit, we aim to establish practical networks and invigorate business cooperation and corporate attraction."
