Oracle Venture Investment Executive Director Cho Sanghyun explained the investment, stating, "Limpid is a unique pet food company that has vertically integrated freeze-dried manufacturing facilities, a clinical trial center, and a data platform. We believe the company can achieve global scale-up, as it is rapidly generating results in the North American market as well."
Limpid plans to focus the funds raised on three areas: expanding into the North American market; expanding the product lines of 'Trusty Food' general pet food and 'Dr. Trusty' prescription pet food; and advancing research and development (R&D) based on clinical trials.
Last year, Limpid acquired a freeze-dried pet food factory, reducing production costs and centralizing quality control. The company then launched the freeze-dried prescription pet food brand 'Dr. Trusty,' securing a leading position in the alternative pet food market. Through the SaladPet platform, Limpid collects and analyzes pet food consumption data to provide healthcare services, and is currently working with Kyungpook National University College of Veterinary Medicine to establish a joint venture for a clinical trial center dedicated to pet food.
Limpid expects its annual sales this year to grow by 600% compared to the previous year.
Limpid CEO Kim Heesu said, "In the United States, the shift from traditional pet food to alternative pet food is progressing rapidly. We plan to differentiate ourselves in the alternative pet food market pioneered by Freshpet and Farmers Dog with cooked food, by competing with our freeze-drying technology."
Limpid plans to begin full-scale overseas sales in the second half of this year by entering major North American e-commerce channels and finalizing local partnerships. In addition, the company aims to expand its lineup of functional prescription pet food and alternative meat vegan pet food brands, with the goal of becoming a global pet nutrition solutions company.
