Chung Yongjin, Chairman of Shinsegae Group, has taken strong legal action in response to the spread of false information through platforms such as YouTube.
On June 11, Shinsegae Group announced that Chairman Chung has decided to pursue all possible civil and criminal legal measures, stating that recent false claims about him being spread by so-called "cyber wreckers" have caused serious defamation.
A representative from Shinsegae Group stated that the content in question has far exceeded what can be considered acceptable, and that it poses a significant threat not only to Chairman Chung personally but also to the brand value of the group. As a result, the company has decided to take strong action.
Chairman Chung plans to identify the individuals behind the malicious YouTube channels and respond swiftly, including taking necessary measures such as lawsuits and requests for information disclosure through courts in the United States and other countries. He also stated, "There will be no leniency in the lawsuits that will proceed going forward."
Meanwhile, content platforms such as YouTube have recently seen a surge in indiscriminate dissemination of unverified allegations, including rumors about Chairman Chung's remarriage and even mentioning the real names of his family members.
