12 Gyeongbuk Universities Hold "International Student Recruitment Briefing" in Hanoi, Vietnam

On June 9, Gyeongbuk Province held the "Gyeongsangbuk-do Hanoi International Student Recruitment Briefing" at Hanoi University of Foreign Studies in Vietnam, targeting students in Hanoi, together with 12 universities from the Gyeongbuk region.


This recruitment briefing was organized to attract outstanding and diligent international students currently attending high schools and universities in Hanoi and neighboring cities.

The event was attended by Kang Seokhee, Gyeongbuk Province Ambassador for International Relations; the president of Catholic Sangji College; representatives from 12 universities in the province; the president of Hanoi University of Foreign Studies; the president of Hai Duong Central University; other officials from Vietnamese educational institutions; and about 300 students from Hanoi.


The event began with a K-POP performance by students from Hanoi University of Foreign Studies, followed by a promotional video about Gyeongbuk, a special lecture, and an introduction to Gyeongbuk's international student policies.


At the briefing, Ambassador Kang Seokhee engaged the Vietnamese students with stories about the Korean Wave, introduced Gyeongbuk's spiritual culture and industrial environment, and delivered a special lecture on the "K-DREAM" that students can achieve by studying in Gyeongbuk.


Lee Sangsoo, Director of University Policy at Gyeongbuk Province, provided a detailed introduction to Gyeongsangbuk-do's policies for attracting and supporting international students, as well as its educational and employment support programs, which systematically help outstanding and diligent international students receive education, find employment, and settle in the region as members of the local community.


The Vietnamese students who attended the briefing responded enthusiastically, singing along joyfully to the K-POP performance and videos, and listening attentively to the director's explanation of the student support policies.


The 12 universities from the Gyeongbuk region participating in the event (Kumoh National Institute of Technology, Kyungpook National University, Kyungwoon University, Kyungil University, Daegu University, Daegu Catholic University, Daegu Haany University, Yeungnam University, Catholic Sangji College, Gumi University, Andong Science College, and Hosan University) set up individual promotional booths in the plaza of Hanoi University of Foreign Studies. They distributed brochures highlighting each university's unique features and strengths, including differentiated scholarship programs for international students, and provided information and guidance on studying in Gyeongbuk through counseling sessions for prospective students.


It was reported that Hanoi students who participated in the event were able to obtain detailed information about studying in Gyeongbuk through the briefing and consultations at the university booths, and that the experience inspired them to pursue their dream of studying in Gyeongbuk.


Lee Sangsoo, Director of University Policy at Gyeongbuk Province, stated, "Through this international student recruitment briefing in Hanoi, Vietnam, we hope to see an increase in the number of Vietnamese students studying in Gyeongbuk," and added, "We will further strengthen our international student support policies that leverage Gyeongbuk's unique strengths, so that Gyeongbuk can establish itself as a leading study destination for international students."
