Geumcheon District in Seoul is accepting applications for its 'Summer Youth Part-Time Program' until June 20. A total of 100 participants will be selected, with 30 chosen through priority selection and 70 through general selection. Selected youths will be assigned to the district office, local community centers, and related institutions, where they can gain experience in various tasks such as administrative support, caregiving, tutoring, and organizing books.

Applicants must be residents of Geumcheon District, aged 19 to 29 (born between 1995 and 2006), and able to work during the program period. However, those who have worked as university students or youth part-timers within the past two years are not eligible to apply.

Starting with the 2024 summer part-time program, the district has expanded eligibility to include not only university students but also all young people aged 19 to 29. This allows high school graduates, youths preparing for employment after university graduation, and students enrolled in open universities or cyber universities, who were previously excluded from university student part-time programs, to apply as well.

'Priority selection' is available for youths who are recipients or children of recipients of the National Basic Livelihood Security Program or are classified as low-income households, members of multicultural families, members of households with three or more children, persons with disabilities (registered under the Act on Welfare of Persons with Disabilities), North Korean defectors, national merit recipients, or those with a record of over 100 hours of volunteer service.

Selected participants will work for about four weeks from July 10 to August 6, five hours per day, five days a week, according to the schedule of each workplace, within the hours of 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The daily wage, including lunch allowance, is 58,895 won per day, and those who complete all working days will receive approximately 1.4 million won.

Youths wishing to participate can apply through the 'Integrated Reservation' service on the Geumcheon District website (www.geumcheon.go.kr). The district will select the final participants through a public computerized lottery on June 24 and announce the results on the Geumcheon District website.

Yoo Seonghun, Mayor of Geumcheon District, stated, "I hope this will be a valuable opportunity for young people to gain practical experience in administrative settings and various fields, and to explore their career paths independently," adding, "We will continue to expand practical job and participation opportunities for young people in the future."
