OpenAI's conversational artificial intelligence (AI) service, ChatGPT, experienced a global service outage on June 10. The outage has persisted for more than five hours as of now. OpenAI stated, "We have identified the cause of the outage and are working on implementing a solution."

According to foreign media outlets such as Tom's Guide, ChatGPT has been inaccessible to users worldwide since approximately 2:45 a.m. Eastern Time in the United States on this day. The outage is reported to be affecting both the application and the API.

Down Detector, a service outage tracking site, began receiving related reports around 2:45 a.m., and the number of reports surged as users in the United Kingdom and Europe attempted to access the service. Currently, users across Europe, North America, Australia, and other regions worldwide are continuously reporting issues with ChatGPT.

This outage is affecting not only ChatGPT's free service but also users of the paid subscription service, ChatGPT Plus, which costs $20 per month. In addition, OpenAI's AI image generator Sora is also experiencing a service outage.

According to foreign media reports, users are receiving error messages such as "A network error has occurred," "Hmm... something seems to be wrong," and "There are too many concurrent requests," or are unable to load the service at all.

OpenAI announced in February that its global weekly active users had surpassed 400 million, and that ChatGPT Plus paid subscribers had reached 10 million. It is estimated that millions of users are being affected by this global outage.
