Swift Response Saves a 24-Month-Old Baby's Life

A 24-month-old baby who lost consciousness due to sudden breathing difficulties was transported to the hospital in just three minutes thanks to the swift response of the police, saving the child's life.

On June 10, the YouTube channel of the Korean National Police Agency uploaded a video titled "A 24-month-old baby not breathing... Please help."

According to the video, on May 12, a man came to the Changdong Police Substation at the Dobong Police Station in Seoul during the day. Breathing heavily, he shouted to the officers, "My baby is not breathing."

The child, not yet 24 months old, had suddenly suffered a seizure and lost consciousness. Fearing that traffic congestion would prevent him from reaching the hospital in time, the father ultimately knocked on the door of the police substation for help.

The baby was limp and unconscious, and the officers, assessing the seriousness of the situation, put the baby and the mother into a patrol car and headed to the hospital emergency room. The baby's father followed the patrol car in his own vehicle.

Due to traffic congestion, the officers turned on the siren and drove at full speed, arriving at the hospital emergency room about three minutes after leaving the substation. The 24-month-old baby, who was able to receive immediate medical attention, reportedly stabilized after receiving treatment for febrile seizures at the hospital.

Earlier in March, a citizen who requested help was also saved thanks to the quick response of patrolling police officers. At that time, the Korean National Police Agency's YouTube channel released a video showing officers in Nam-gu, Ulsan, who quickly transported a citizen experiencing breathing difficulties to the hospital.

The officers were patrolling the area in a patrol car when a person identified as A, who was driving to the hospital, urgently knocked on their window and asked for help, saying, "My husband can't breathe." Seeing A's husband lying down with a bluish face and having convulsions, the officers immediately assessed the situation and transported him to the hospital, where he was able to receive treatment safely.
