During this briefing, the city focused on introducing 10 key initiatives directly related to citizens’ daily lives: operation of the Pocheon 38 Culture and Arts Creative Center, construction of the Pocheon City Museum, creation of the Pocheon Park Golf Course, establishment of the National Sports Center and Integrated Archery Range, the KB-sponsored Small Library project, the Reading Club Revitalization project, the Medical-Care Integrated Support Pilot Project, the opening of the Pocheon Family Center, and the pilot operation of the Pocheon Bandabi Sports Center, among others.

The 'Pocheon 38 Culture and Arts Creative Center,' which is being established by renovating the former Yeongpyeong Elementary School, will be completed in June and will open in August. The center will offer a variety of cultural programs for children, youth, artists, and local organizations, and is expected to invigorate Pocheon's arts ecosystem.

Pocheon City is pursuing the construction of the 'Pocheon City Museum' with the goal of fostering citizens’ historical pride and establishing a leading museum in northern Gyeonggi Province. The museum will be built on a 6,072-square-meter site within Pocheon Art Valley, with a total floor area of 7,000 square meters, and will be developed as a complex cultural space equipped with exhibition halls, storage rooms, educational spaces, and research facilities.

Architectural design services are currently underway, with completion scheduled for 2028. Pocheon City plans to proceed with preliminary consultations with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, a feasibility pre-evaluation by Gyeonggi Province, and a local fiscal investment review in 2026, aiming to begin construction in 2027.

The city is also steadily strengthening its foundation for citizens’ sports and welfare. The 'Pocheon Park Golf Course,' currently under construction along the Hantangang River in Changsu-myeon, has reached 80% completion and is set to begin pilot operation of its 36 holes in September. With the expansive backdrop of the Hantangang River and affordable usage and equipment rental fees, the facility aims to continue Pocheon's reputation as a 'Golf 8th School District.'

In addition, a 'senior-oriented National Sports Center' and an 'Integrated Archery Range' will be established sequentially in Eoryong-dong, Pocheon, with phased construction and completion targeted by the end of 2027.

The senior-oriented National Sports Center and Integrated Archery Range, which will feature a gym, group exercise room (GX room), screen park golf, jogging track, and other diverse sports facilities, are expected to become key venues for promoting the health of Pocheon citizens.

Furthermore, to enhance cultural accessibility for youth, the 'KB-sponsored Small Library' will open in July within the Pocheon Youth Education and Culture Center. The 'Reading Club Revitalization Project,' which provides support for reading club activities and local meeting spaces, will also be expanded in multiple directions.

New changes are also anticipated in the health and welfare sectors. The 'Medical-Care Integrated Support Pilot Project,' launched in March to address the needs of a super-aged society, is now in full operation, providing integrated and customized services for seniors, including medical care, nursing, and daily support.

The 'Bandabi Sports Center,' which began pilot operation in May, is a sports facility prioritizing people with disabilities, equipped with specialized facilities such as a swimming pool, aquatic exercise room, gymnasium, and group exercise room (GX room) for rehabilitation. Non-disabled citizens can also use the center, making it an inclusive, community-based sports facility for all.

Additionally, the 'Pocheon Family Center,' which is set to open within the Bandabi Sports Center, will serve as a hub for citizen-centered family welfare, supporting the growth of children from multicultural families and childcare for dual-income households.

Lee Yunhaeng, Director of the Culture and Welfare Bureau, stated, "Balanced investment and implementation across the fields of culture, sports, and welfare are bringing about changes that citizens can truly feel," and added, "We will further strengthen our culture and welfare policies to improve the quality of life for citizens and enhance sustainable urban competitiveness."

Meanwhile, since this year, Pocheon City has been holding regular municipal briefings twice a month to share the status of major policies and projects with citizens.
