Gachon University has newly renovated its "cleanroom," where students can receive hands-on training in semiconductor processing.
On June 10, Gachon University held an opening ceremony for the cleanroom on the first floor of the College of Semiconductors, co-hosted by the Semiconductor Specialization Project Group and the Early Employment Contract Department Leading University Project Group.
The ceremony was attended by President Lee Gilyeo, Senior Vice President Choi Miri, Vice President Yoon Wonjung, Dean of the College of Semiconductors Lee Sangryeol, Head of the Semiconductor Specialization Project Group Cho Seongbo, Head of the Early Employment Contract Department Project Group Cho Uisik, as well as faculty members and students from the College of Semiconductors.
The new cleanroom is a complete renovation of the facility originally built in 2002. Through the Semiconductor Specialization University Project and the Early Employment Contract Department Project, 800 million won was invested in construction and 1 billion won was spent on new equipment.

The cleanroom is equipped with advanced devices such as RIE, ALD (atomic layer deposition equipment), sputter, photo aligner, CMP (chemical mechanical polishing equipment), cleaning machines, and inkjet printers, allowing students to practice key semiconductor processes such as etching, deposition, and planarization.
Gachon University also expanded the training space from the previous 225 square meters to 360 square meters. As a result, more undergraduate and graduate students can now receive hands-on training based on the latest semiconductor processing technologies.
In her congratulatory remarks, President Lee Gilyeo stated, "With the opening of this cleanroom, we will further strengthen practical, hands-on education to nurture key talent who will lead the global semiconductor industry, so that Gachon University becomes synonymous with semiconductors."
