"Administrative, Financial, and Policy Support"

"Ecological Civilization Shift Begins"... Suncheon Eco College Holds Opening Ceremony Noh Kwangyu, mayor of Suncheon, is delivering a congratulatory speech at the opening ceremony of 'Suncheon Eco College.' Provided by Suncheon City

On June 10, Suncheon City in South Jeolla Province announced that it held the opening ceremony for Suncheon Eco College at the Ecological Business Center.

The ceremony was attended by approximately 30 people, including Suncheon Mayor Noh Kwangyu, advisory board members, faculty, and students. The program included performances, an introduction to the school, a plaque unveiling, and a meet-and-greet between professors and students.

The first cohort of Suncheon Eco College consists of 12 students aged 19 to 36 from across the country. Over the next six months, they will live together in Suncheon and receive both theoretical and practical education focused on ecological transition.

Suncheon Eco College operates in a completely different way from traditional formal education. Rather than classroom lectures, students will participate in “pilgrimages” where they walk, ask questions, and learn through direct encounters, as well as engage in projects linked to the local community.

In his congratulatory speech, Mayor Noh Kwangyu stated, “The students of Suncheon Eco College are not just here to study; they are special citizens participating in an experiment to transform themselves, change the local community, and shift the world. The city will provide full administrative, financial, and policy support for the journey of this school.”
