This performance was designed to help children naturally develop proper handwashing habits, and was attended by more than 1,000 preschool children.

In the play, the story interestingly conveyed the importance of handwashing by showing the main character, Peter Pan, scolding Captain Hook, who tries to prevent the children from washing their hands. In addition, practical hygiene education tailored to children's level was provided, including learning the correct six-step handwashing method through songs and dances, which was well received.

Jung Jongbok, Governor of Gijang County, said, "Proper handwashing alone can prevent many infectious diseases," and added, "We will continue to promote a variety of educational programs to help children develop healthy habits from an early age."

Handwashing is considered the easiest and most effective method of preventing infectious diseases, to the extent that it is referred to as a "self-vaccine." It is known that simply washing hands with running water and soap for more than 30 seconds can prevent 50 to 70 percent of respiratory diseases and waterborne and foodborne infections.
