Interim Briefings in Four Core Areas
Enhancing Outcomes and Execution
The Busanjin-Hae Economic Free Zone Authority (Commissioner Park Sungho) has launched a research project to establish the 'Busanjin-Hae Economic Free Zone (BJFEZ) 2040 Development Plan.' On June 10, the authority held a kickoff briefing in its main conference room and announced the official start of the research.
This study aims to systematically establish the future development direction of BJFEZ in response to changes in the global economic environment and the transformation of industrial structures. The focus is on formulating a mid- to long-term plan to strengthen BJFEZ’s role as a key hub for the Busan and Gyeongnam regions.
More than 20 people attended the kickoff briefing, including Commissioner Park Sungho, division heads, all department heads, and representatives from the Korea Management Association Consulting, the organization conducting the research. They shared the direction and schedule of the project, discussed methods of cooperation, and exchanged a variety of opinions.
A distinctive feature of this research project is a new approach to interim reporting. The authority plans to move away from the traditional single-session reporting format and instead hold separate interim briefings for four core areas: development planning, investment attraction, industrial development, and residential environment. By introducing expert-centered discussions in the form of seminars or forums for each field, the authority aims to enhance policy outcomes and execution, strengthen accountability among departments, and reinforce external collaboration systems.
Commissioner Park Sungho stated, "This development plan is an important opportunity to redefine the identity and competitiveness of BJFEZ and to establish future strategies based on connections with major national infrastructure. I hope that customized briefings for each field will lead to practical and high-quality results."
The research will be conducted over six months, with interim briefings for each field, and the final results will be confirmed and shared at a final briefing in November. Based on this research, the authority plans to establish practical plans with strong policy linkages and to develop phased implementation strategies so that BJFEZ can become an attractive economic zone for both domestic and international investors.
