The Theme of "Dragons" in Korean Myths and Legends
Jeongeup City in North Jeolla Province announced on June 10 that it will host a lecture by author Jeong Bora, writer of "The Cursed Rabbit," at Shintaein Library on the 14th.
This special lecture will explore the world of fantasy literature where tradition meets imagination, focusing on the theme of "dragons" in Korean myths and legends, together with local citizens.

Jeong Bora built her academic foundation by studying humanities at Yonsei University, earning a master's degree in Russian and East European Studies from Yale University in the United States, and completing a doctoral program in Slavic Literature at Indiana University.
She began her full-fledged writing career in 2014 after winning the SF Award for Best Mid-Length Work with "Seed." In 2022, she gained international attention as a finalist for the International Booker Prize with "The Cursed Rabbit."
Since then, she was shortlisted for the National Book Award for Translated Literature in 2023, and this year, her work "Your Utopia" was a finalist for the Philip K. Dick Award, leading the global recognition of Korean science fiction and fantasy literature.
Her major works include the recently published "Children's Home," as well as "Midnight Timetable," "Earth Creatures, Surrender," and "On Pain." She is loved by many readers for her original world-building and sharp social messages.

A library official stated, "We expect this to be a meaningful opportunity to hear firsthand from a world-renowned author about her literary journey," and encouraged active interest and participation from citizens.
