Bito Village Center:
A Rest Area for Residents
and a Place for Tourists
to Experience and Stay in the Fishing Village
Sacheon City in South Gyeongsang Province held the Sacheon City Nakji Pohang Fishing Village New Deal 300 Project Completion Ceremony at Nakji Pohang in Bito-ri, Seopo-myeon.
The completion ceremony, held on June 9, was attended by over 100 people, including Mayor Park Dongsik, City Council Chair Kim Kyuhun, provincial and city council members, heads of related organizations, and citizens. The event proceeded with the presentation of appreciation plaques, commemorative speeches, congratulatory remarks, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and a tour of the facilities.
The Nakji Pohang Fishing Village New Deal 300 Project invested approximately 8.5 billion KRW to complete the construction of the Fishermen's Hall, which will serve as a communication and rest area for fishermen; the Bito Village Center, which will provide a rest area for local residents and opportunities for tourists to experience and stay in the fishing village; the construction of a quay for safe fishing operations and convenient parking for visitors; and the installation of a floating pier to enhance the convenience for fishing boats.
By improving outdated port facilities, the project is expected not only to ensure safe and comfortable fishing activities for fishermen but also to go beyond simple infrastructure upgrades, contributing to the development of the fishing village and the improvement of residents' quality of life.
Choi Gyujeon, head of the Bito Fishing Village Association, stated, "Thanks to the active participation and interest of the residents and the generous support from related organizations, the Fishing Village New Deal 300 Project has been completed. Nakji Pohang will undoubtedly emerge as a landmark of Sacheon, a marine tourism city. We will continue to communicate and strive to make our fishing village a happy and livable community for all residents."
Mayor Park Dongsik said, "Nakji Pohang is a beautiful fishing village where the spirit of the Sacheon Sea is alive, and it has long been the foundation of a local community that has lived alongside the fishing industry. However, outdated infrastructure and a stagnant fishing economy made change necessary. The facilities established through this project will greatly contribute to revitalizing both the fishing industry and tourism, and will provide a sustainable foundation for growth that harmonizes with the village."
