Applications Accepted from the 1st to 15th of Each Month Until November
Up to 200,000 Won Support for Ages 50 to 64
Sancheong County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on June 10 that it will implement the "Support Program for Middle-Aged Job Seekers to Obtain Employment Certificates."
This initiative has been established to provide (re)employment opportunities for middle-aged job seekers and to support their "second act" in life.
Eligible applicants are unemployed South Korean job seekers aged 50 to 64 (born between January 1, 1961, and December 31, 1975) who, as of the application date, are registered residents of Sancheong County as of January 1, 2025, and have neither employment nor a business registration.
The program will cover actual expenses for exam fees, textbook costs, and certificate issuance fees (with a 10% self-payment) for certificate and language exams taken in 2025, up to a maximum of 200,000 won per person per year, with a total of 50 recipients.
The number of annual applications and exam results are not considered. However, individuals who register for a qualification exam but do not take it will be excluded from support.
Eligible fields include national technical qualification exams (such as career counselors, hairdressers, wallpapering technicians, computer application skills, etc.), national professional qualification exams (such as social workers, nursing assistants, caregivers, etc.), nationally recognized private qualification exams (such as outdoor advertising specialists, origami, hospital administration specialists, etc.), as well as the Korean History Proficiency Test and language proficiency tests.
Middle-aged job seekers who wish to participate can apply from the 1st to the 15th of each month until November by contacting the Job Creation Team of the Economy and Enterprise Division at Sancheong County (via email, in person, or by mail).
County Governor Lee Seunghwa said, "We hope this program will help strengthen the employment capabilities of unemployed middle-aged job seekers and alleviate their financial burden," adding, "We will continue to strive to provide more (re)employment opportunities in the future."
