Former CEO of Prudential Life and DGB Life
A Professional Executive Who Led Digital Management Innovation and Channel Advancement
On June 10, SK Shieldus announced that it has appointed Minki Sik, former CEO of Prudential Life Insurance, as its new CEO. Minki Sik is scheduled to be officially appointed at the end of June following approval by the board of directors.
The new CEO, Minki Sik, is regarded as a professional executive who has demonstrated expertise in the insurance and financial sectors for over 30 years, excelling in channel restructuring, digital management innovation, and organizational stabilization. He previously served as CEO at Prudential Life Insurance and DGB Life Insurance, proactively responding to structural changes in the industry. While serving as Vice Chairman of KB Life Insurance, he oversaw overseas market expansion, including into Indonesia and Vietnam.
SK Shieldus is an integrated security company encompassing a wide range of business segments, including physical security, information security, and converged security. The company explained that Minki Sik is the right person to organically integrate these business structures and maximize synergy.
Last year, SK Shieldus surpassed annual sales of 2 trillion won, and is currently pursuing mid- to long-term initiatives such as upgrading its intelligent threat response system, digital transformation, and global expansion, based on its comprehensive operations in B2C (business-to-consumer) home security, B2B (business-to-business) industrial security, and B2G (business-to-government) security. With ongoing uncertainty across industries and the continued strengthening of compliance related to information protection, the strategic importance of the security industry is becoming even more pronounced.
An SK Shieldus official stated, "In this rapidly changing global environment, strong leadership capable of driving sustainable growth is essential," and added, "The new CEO's extensive experience and strategic insight will lead SK Shieldus to a new leap forward."
Meanwhile, former CEO Hong Wonpyo has stepped down upon the expiration of his term. Since being appointed CEO in August 2023, Hong Wonpyo has contributed to enhancing SK Shieldus's status as a leading domestic security company by strengthening its digital security capabilities, advancing its AI-based service systems, and laying the foundation for global expansion strategies.
