On-site Briefing Held for the
"Korea Garden Industry Expo in Jinju"
Jinju City in South Gyeongsang Province held an on-site press briefing to share the vision and preparations for the "2025 Korea Garden Industry Expo in Jinju," which will be held on June 13, to ensure the successful hosting of the event.
During the on-site briefing, the city introduced the direction of Jinju’s garden policy, explained the expo’s theme of "Life with Gardens: Practical Gardens in Everyday Life," and presented the main contents of the expo, signaling Jinju’s leap forward as a "garden city."
The "Korea Garden Industry Expo in Jinju" will take place over ten days from June 13 to June 22 in the Chojeon Park area. It is the largest specialized garden industry expo in Korea, where gardens, industry, culture, and citizens are organically connected. In particular, under the theme "Life with Gardens: Practical Gardens in Everyday Life," the expo will showcase a wide range of living garden models that can be implemented in urban settings, such as apartment verandas and weekend farms.
The on-site briefing introduced the expo’s core contents, including the ▲Korea Garden Show ▲Garden Industry Exhibition ▲Garden Conference ▲Citizen Participation Gardens ▲Citizen Gardener Village.
In the field of garden creation, the "Korea Garden Show" will feature six garden designers selected through a competition, each creating a distinctive garden that embodies the "Korean aesthetic." The "Citizen Participation Gardens" will present creative gardens designed by citizens selected through a public contest, providing opportunities for the spread of garden culture and creative garden creation. Both the "Citizen Participation Gardens" and the "Citizen Gardener Village" are participatory programs where citizens and citizen gardeners directly design and cultivate gardens, offering vivid garden models for those who dream of having their own garden.
In addition, the expo will feature a convergence exhibition that covers the entire garden industry, from garden materials and plant resources to advanced garden technologies and spatial design. Indoor and outdoor exhibition spaces will include a Plant Library Hall (flowers, soil, fertilizers, pots, etc.), a Facility Library Hall (lighting, rest facilities, etc.), and a Special Exhibition Hall (stay-type shelters, apartment indoor gardens, etc.). Companies, institutions, and associations related to gardens will introduce the latest products and technologies, and through citizen participation booths, they will present directions for the popularity and practicality of the garden industry.
The "Garden Conference," which shares knowledge and vision of garden culture, will deepen the discourse on gardens through a variety of academic events that examine the present and future of the garden industry.
In particular, a "Garden International Symposium" jointly organized with the National Arboretum and a "Night Garden Talk Concert" with domestic garden experts will be held. In addition, Professor Yu Hongjun and Korea’s leading garden designer Hwang Jihae will participate, delivering lectures that encompass garden design and industry, and presenting new future visions for gardens, such as healing through gardens and sustainable green industries.
A Jinju City official emphasized, "Gardens are not just for viewing, but serve as a catalyst for community restoration," adding, "After hosting the '2025 Korea Garden Industry Expo in Jinju,' the city will take another step forward as a garden city, serving as an integrated model of culture, industry, and urban development centered around gardens."
