Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation announced that, starting June 10, ten Ddokbeoseu vehicles, a Gyeonggi-style demand-responsive transport service, will begin pilot operations in the Dangsu-dong area of Suwon. Full-scale operations are set to begin on June 17.

The Ddokbeoseu service in Suwon will operate in the areas of Dangsu-dong, Ipuk-dong, and Geumgok-dong central commercial district, aiming to improve mobility services for residents in the western Suwon region, where public transportation is relatively limited.

The service will use ten 11-seater minivans, operating from 6:00 a.m. to midnight, with ride requests accepted until 11:30 p.m. During the pilot period from June 10 to 16, passengers can use the Ddokbeoseu service free of charge. Starting from June 17, when full-scale operations begin, passengers will be able to board at the designated fare.

The fare, based on transportation card payment, is the same as the standard city bus fare: 1,450 won for adults, 1,010 won for teenagers, and 730 won for children. The integrated transfer discount for the Seoul metropolitan area also applies.

To use the service, passengers can enter their departure and destination locations in real time via the 'Ddokta' app to call a bus, and receive information on the boarding location and vehicle. Those who have difficulty using the app can also use the service by calling by phone.

Yoon Taewan, Director of the Gyeonggi Province Metropolitan Transportation Policy Division, stated, "The Suwon Ddokbeoseu is already serving as a vital means of transportation for residents in Gwanggyo and Gosaek-dong, operating successfully. We will make every effort to ensure that Ddokbeoseu also provides convenient mobility for residents in the Dangsu-dong area."

Meanwhile, since launching the pilot project in Paju in 2022, Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation are now operating a total of 243 Ddokbeoseu vehicles across 17 cities and counties in the province, including the new Suwon service. As an app-based new transportation system that allows passengers to travel from their departure point to their destination while seated, without transfers, Ddokbeoseu has established itself as a popular mobility option among residents of Gyeonggi Province.
