Gyeonggi Province will launch the 'Artist Opportunity Income Expansion Project' starting June 14, offering performance opportunities to Artist Opportunity Income recipients and expanding residents' access to arts and culture. The project will take place in various locations across the province.
Under the theme "Opportunity Becomes Art. Culture Becomes Everyday Life," the recurring stage, which returns following last year’s event, will feature performances in a wide range of genres, including popular music, classical, Korean traditional music, and bands. These performances will be held every weekend until October at the Gyeonggi Arts Center Outdoor Theater in Suwon and the Gyeonggi Peace Plaza at the Northern Gyeonggi Provincial Government Complex in Uijeongbu.
In particular, from August 6 for two weeks, a special event tentatively titled 'A Midsummer Night's Art Stage' will be held to provide relief from the summer heat.
Park Laehyuk, Director-General of Culture, Sports and Tourism at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Artist Opportunity Income recipients will have the chance to showcase their social value through their works, while residents will be able to experience and spread this value through arts and culture. We look forward to active participation from the community."
Meanwhile, Gyeonggi Province will begin providing Artist Opportunity Income payments to approximately 13,000 applicants who registered by May 30, following an income survey and related procedures, starting at the end of June.
