Korail Gwangju Headquarters announced on June 9 that it has designated the period until the 11th as "Environment Week" and is conducting a public carbon neutrality practice campaign at all stations in the region.
This campaign was organized to commemorate World Environment Day, to inform citizens that railways are the most suitable eco-friendly means of transportation for achieving carbon neutrality, and to deliver the message that using trains is the starting point for practicing eco-friendly habits in daily life.
During Environment Week, the Gwangju Headquarters is operating various programs, including reducing plastic use, carrying out environmental cleanup activities at each station, and promoting daily guidelines for practicing carbon neutrality through railway use. In particular, on June 5, employees of the Gwangju Headquarters conducted environmental cleanup activities at Gwangju Station, working to create a pleasant station environment.
Kim Youngjin, head of the Gwangju Headquarters, stated, "Gwangju Headquarters will continue to take the lead in eco-friendly practices together with the local community and strive to create a cleaner and more pleasant railway environment."
