Sales More Than Double Compared to the Same Month Last Year
Haman County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on June 9 that, from June 6 to June 8, it received an enthusiastic response from consumers by selling its signature agricultural and specialty products, including Haman Watermelon and locally grown fresh produce, at outdoor sales venues in front of the Haman Rest Area (Suncheon-bound) and the Chilseo Rest Area (Yangpyeong-bound).
In particular, the outdoor sales at the Haman Rest Area (Suncheon-bound) recorded 120 million KRW in sales during the month of May, demonstrating a strong response from customers. In addition, the local food direct markets within the Haman Rest Area and Chilseo Rest Area have generated annual sales of over 700 million KRW, contributing to increased farm income and promoting the county.
Unlike other stores that mainly sell processed products, the Haman County weekend direct market for agricultural and specialty products is the only direct market among highway rest areas nationwide that focuses on selling freshly harvested produce delivered directly from the farms.
In June, the market expects to further increase sales by offering a variety of seasonal fresh fruits such as Baege Watermelon, Sinsun and Sinbi Peaches, and Noeul Melon. This is anticipated to attract more customers and help ensure stable income for local farmers.
Park Inmin, Director of the Horticultural Distribution Division of Haman County, stated, "Our greatest strength is being able to deliver the freshness of Haman County’s agricultural and specialty products directly to our customers," adding, "We will continue to provide operational support so that consumers can trust our food and local farmers can receive real benefits."
