'2025 The Goga Seoul International Art Fair Festival'
Held throughout June at the Songpa branch 'mART Center' in Seoul
Over 400 artists from 11 countries participating
Lotte Mart announced on June 10 that it will host an art fair throughout the month of June at the permanent art store 'mART Center' located at its Songpa branch in Seoul.
This event, called the '2025 The Goga Seoul International Art Fair Festival,' is the largest exhibition organized by a major domestic hypermarket. More than 400 artists from 11 countries, including the United States, Japan, Italy, France, and Bangladesh, are participating.
In August last year, Lotte Mart opened the mART Center, spanning 2,314 square meters (approximately 700 pyeong), on the second floor of the Songpa branch. Through this initiative, the company aims to lower the entry barrier for visitors to exhibitions and naturally encourage them to shop at the store after viewing the artworks, thereby increasing the time spent in the hypermarket and boosting sales.
The exhibition is divided into two parts. The first part, which runs until June 15, features works from various genres such as painting, photography, and media art, as well as a special humanities lecture by art commentator Choi Junguk. Until June 29, a 50-carat tanzanite valued at 1 billion won will be unveiled for the first time in Korea. The second part, held from June 17 to June 30, will focus on interactive programs such as beauty shows and hair shows, allowing visitors to participate directly. To foster a sustainable creative environment for artists, 70% of the proceeds from artwork sales will be returned to the artists.
Lotte Mart has been presenting a variety of exhibitions to promote the popularization of art. In November last year, the company held the 'All Art Fair,' featuring 1,000 works by 100 artists. In September 2023, it hosted 'Art in LotteMart - Art Supermarket,' an event providing exhibition opportunities for artists with limited access, positioning the hypermarket not only as a place for shopping but also as a space to enjoy cultural and artistic content.
Jeon Yura, MD (Merchandiser) of the Lotte Mart and Super Health Tenant Team, stated, "We will continue to plan various art fairs at the Songpa branch to realize the popularization of art and to provide differentiated cultural experiences."
