Since 1640, when Seokgye Lee Simyeong pioneered the area, the Jaeryeong Lee clan, his descendants, have formed a clan village here, a tradition that continues to this day.

The village is lined with traditional houses, including the Seokgye Old House and Seokcheon Seodang. You can also find the memorial stele for Lady Jang of the Andong Jang clan, who wrote "Eumsik Dimibang," the first Korean cookbook written in Hangul, as well as calligraphy works inscribed by Lee Sungil, the son of Seokgye, at Dongdae, Seodae, Nakgidae, and Sesimdae.

At the Jang Gyehyang Cultural Experience Center, located at the foot of the ridge surrounding Dudeul Village, visitors can rediscover the life of "Jang Gyehyang, the Lady of Virtue," and taste dishes prepared using traditional recipes from "Eumsik Dimibang."

The center also offers programs where you can make foods and traditional liquors described in Eumsik Dimibang, experience tea ceremonies and traditional games, relax and relieve stress in tranquil hanok houses, and restore peace of mind.

Strolling through the hanok village to the sound of insects and tasting foods recreated from Joseon-era recipes?such as seokryutang, seopsansam, sujeung-gye, and eomandu?offers an opportunity to awaken your palate to new flavors and experience a peaceful past, just as the name "Eumsik Dimi (Knowing Taste) Bang" suggests, in contrast to the stimulating modern world.

County Governor Oh Dochang said, "This summer, you can experience the most authentic Korean culture in the humble setting of Dudeul Village," adding, "I hope you enjoy a holiday where you can let go of daily stress and fill your heart with peace."
