Supporting Return to Daily Life Through Art and Music Therapy
Junggu District in Seoul is operating a variety of rehabilitation programs for people with severe mental illnesses at the Junggu Mental Health Welfare Center every Monday through Friday, supporting emotional healing and a return to daily life.
The rehabilitation programs at the Junggu Mental Health Welfare Center include art and music therapy, sock yarn crafts, and rehabilitation exercise. Through these programs, participants can experience emotional stability and healing, and also receive social adaptation training through interaction with other participants.
This year, the district is also taking the lead in environmental protection through recycling sock yarn craft classes. Lectures by psychiatrists are provided to help participants reflect on their conditions, and the center also offers human rights education and self-governance meetings led directly by individuals with mental illnesses, realizing a participant-centered program.
The programs are offered completely free of charge to residents who have been diagnosed and treated by a psychiatrist and are registered with the Junggu Mental Health Welfare Center. Junggu stated, "The Junggu Mental Health Welfare Center supports the recovery of daily life for residents facing difficulties through various rehabilitation processes," and added, "We hope that residents can enjoy happiness in their daily lives through consistent rehabilitation."
In addition to rehabilitation programs, the Junggu Mental Health Welfare Center also provides a variety of free services, including mental health counseling and case management, suicide crisis management and bereavement counseling, and mental health education. Residents who wish to participate can register with the Junggu Mental Health Welfare Center (02-2236-6606~8) through a consultation.
