On June 4 (local time), the British media outlet The Sun reported that Pastor Sergio Carvalho, 47, suddenly collapsed and died during a worship service at a church near Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Pastor Carvalho had been invited as a guest preacher on May 31 and took the pulpit. About 16 minutes into his sermon, he mentioned his father, knelt down, and appeared to be overcome with emotion. Moments later, without saying a word, he collapsed to the floor. Congregants and medical personnel at the scene immediately administered emergency aid, but he ultimately passed away.

A nursing student who assisted with emergency care until the ambulance arrived said, "Everything seemed normal during the sermon. He appeared emotional as he spoke about his father," adding, "Everyone was deeply shocked when he suddenly collapsed."

Another worshipper who attended the service expressed sorrow, saying, "The pastor quietly knelt and prayed, and that became the last moment of his life."

The deceased was known as both a pastor and a musician, continuing his ministry through music. A church spokesperson paid tribute, saying, "His voice filled this space with praise, and now he has likely joined the choir of heaven."

His father had also served as a pastor during his lifetime, and Pastor Carvalho was known to frequently express his respect for his father. The exact cause of death has not been disclosed, and the funeral was held on June 2.
