Multiple reports have been filed alleging that a gas station in Gunsan, North Jeolla Province, sold "substandard gasoline," prompting the relevant authorities to launch an investigation.
On June 6, Yonhap News quoted the police and Gunsan City as saying, "At around 9:47 a.m. today, a report was filed with the police stating, 'After refueling at a gas station, my car stopped while driving.'" So far, three such reports have been received, and the police estimate that more than 10 vehicles have been affected. The fuel dispenser used by the drivers is currently out of service.
The Petroleum Quality Management Institute plans to analyze the composition of the gasoline from the gas station to determine the cause of the problem. A police official stated, "The case has been assigned and is under investigation," adding, "We intend to confirm whether there is indeed an issue with the gasoline that the drivers used." A Gunsan City official also said, "If the Petroleum Quality Management Institute's analysis finds a problem with the gasoline, we will take administrative action in accordance with relevant laws."
