New Senior Fiscal Planning Advisor to Oversee Fiscal Strategies
Reinstatement of National Records Secretary and Gender Equality and Family Secretary
President Lee Jaemyung will expand and reorganize the National Situation Room at the Presidential Office, establishing it as the control tower for state affairs. A new senior-level Fiscal Planning Advisor position will be created, and the Office of Civil Society Secretary will be expanded into the Office of Listening and Integration Secretary, which will include a dedicated Youth Officer. The position of Secretary for Gender Equality and Family, which had been eliminated under the Yoon Sukyeol administration, has been reinstated and renamed as the Secretary for Gender Equality and Family.
On the 6th, Kang Hoonshik, Chief of Staff to the President, held a briefing at the Presidential Office in Seoul and announced the "Presidential Office Organizational Restructuring Plan and First Round of Appointments." Kang stated, "The Presidential Office aims to build a fast and practical organization with responsibility, a focus on the future, and competence as its core principles," outlining the direction of the reorganization.

The National Situation Room will be expanded and reorganized. The National Crisis Management Center will be transferred from its previous position under the Second Deputy Director of the National Security Office to report directly to the Director of the National Security Office. Kang explained that this change is intended to "ensure the safety of the people, which is the nation's top mission." The Office of State Affairs Secretary and the Office of Policy Coordination Secretary will be merged to systematically manage national policies.
Additionally, a new senior-level Fiscal Planning Advisor position will be created. Kang stated, "By overseeing fiscal strategies for the implementation of national tasks, we will ensure that the President's governing philosophy is fully realized in the field."
The Office of Civil Society Secretary will be expanded into the Office of Listening and Integration Secretary. According to Kang, this measure is intended to facilitate conflict resolution and promote social dialogue. Under the Office of Listening and Integration Secretary, a Youth Officer will be appointed to actively incorporate the opinions of the younger generation.
A new Office of AI Future Planning Secretary will also be established. This office will be responsible for making Korea one of the top three AI powers, developing growth strategies, and addressing future challenges. It will also focus on advanced technologies, as well as issues related to population and climate crises.
The positions of Secretary for National Records and Secretary for Gender Equality and Family, which had been eliminated under the Yoon Sukyeol administration, will be reinstated. The Secretary for Gender Equality and Family will be expanded and renamed as the Secretary for Gender Equality and Family.
In addition, new positions will be created: a Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Secretary to oversee the relocation of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries to Busan and the development of Arctic shipping routes; a Judicial System Secretary to handle prosecution and judicial reform; and an Administrative Secretary as a temporary body to facilitate the return of the Presidential Office to the Blue House.
Kang stated, "The government of popular sovereignty will always keep its promises to the people and respond to their support and expectations with tangible results that the public can feel," adding, "We will reorganize the Presidential Office to be responsible, future-oriented, and competent, transforming it into an organization that truly works for the people."
This reorganization of the Presidential Office will be implemented following the necessary procedures, such as amendments to relevant regulations, in the future.
