On June 6, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Park Sangwoo visited the site of the construction equipment accident where a machine struck the outer wall of an apartment building in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province. He inspected the accident recovery situation and ordered measures to prevent secondary damage.


The accident occurred at around 10:13 p.m. the previous day at the Indeokwon-Dongtan double-track railway construction site. A pile driver, a large piece of equipment used for ground drilling, lost its balance and toppled over, damaging the exterior wall and window frame (sash) of a nearby apartment building. There were no casualties.


At the site, Minister Park emphasized, "Take thorough measures to ensure that no additional damage occurs during the removal and dismantling of the pile driver," and instructed, "Check the stability of the surrounding ground using ground-penetrating radar (GPR)."

He also stressed the need for measures to support affected residents. Minister Park requested, "Conduct a prompt and precise safety inspection so that the inconvenience to residents affected by the accident is not prolonged, and establish support measures for their return."


Minister Park stated, "For railway construction sites where overturn accidents involving pile drivers, cranes, forklifts, and pump trucks are possible, conduct a comprehensive inspection and make every effort to prevent safety accidents through thorough site management."


On the morning of June 6, Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Baek Won-guk began on-site command starting at 7 a.m., the day after the accident.
