The event was led by the College's Professional College Innovation Support Project Group, with participation from various local organizations such as the Busan Mothers Green Movement Headquarters (BMGM), Sasang-gu Haebaragi Kindergarten, and Gyeongnam College of Information's affiliated kindergarten. More than 170 people, including kindergarteners, university members, and citizens, took part in the campaign to restore the ecosystem and improve water quality.
Participants engaged in water purification activities by throwing EM (Effective Microorganisms) mud balls they had made themselves into Hakjangcheon Stream. EM mud balls are an eco-friendly method that enhances the self-purification capacity of rivers and contributes to increasing biodiversity.
Lim Junwoo, head of the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation at Gyeongnam College of Information, stated, "This activity is a small step toward realizing ESG values and sustainable development in the local community," and added, "We will continue to run environmental programs together with the community."
This project is considered a model case of collaboration between local universities and civil society to address environmental issues, and it is expected to have a positive impact on the restoration of the Hakjangcheon ecosystem.
