Daegu Police Agency to Launch Large-Scale Drunk Driving Crackdown Throughout June

Large-Scale Police Deployment and Intensive Crackdown Announced on Dalgubeol-daero and Dongdaegu-ro

The Daegu Police Agency (Commissioner Lee Seunghyeop) announced on June 6 that it will conduct a large-scale special crackdown on drunk driving throughout Daegu for the entire month of June.

This crackdown departs from the traditional police station-based approach and instead organizes three to four police stations into regional groups, concentrating personnel and equipment for an intensive, large-scale operation. It will be carried out simultaneously on major roads such as Dalgubeol-daero and Dongdaegu-ro.

The police explained that, as concerns about drunk driving accidents are rising due to higher temperatures and increased outdoor activities, this special crackdown is a preemptive measure to ensure public safety and eradicate drunk driving.

The operation will mobilize all available police resources, including mobile units, to the fullest extent possible. While minimizing inconvenience to citizens such as traffic congestion, the highest priority will be placed on safety at the scene. In addition, the police plan to make every effort to eradicate drunk driving by continuing and expanding these crackdowns throughout the year, rather than limiting them to a one-time event.

A police official stated, "Drunk driving is a serious crime that threatens the lives of both yourself and others," and urged, "If you have been drinking, please be sure to use a substitute driver service or public transportation."
