148 Companies in the Flower Industry to Participate
Daegu City is hosting the 16th Daegu Flower Expo, the largest indoor flower show in Korea, at EXCO for four days from June 5 to June 8, 2025.
This year’s expo is themed “Kkotsaenggatsaeng (A Flower Path for Those Who Live Diligently),” and will feature floral art exhibitions that deliver healing and beauty in everyday life. The event will also broadly highlight the intersection of garden culture and the floriculture industry in daily living.
Notably, this year’s expo will host the “2025 Asia Floral Design Contest” for the first time in Korea, elevating its status as an international event. Twelve leading florists from eight countries?Korea, Japan, China, Thailand, Hong Kong, Malaysia, India, and Vietnam?will present works inspired by their respective cultures and creativity under the theme “Flowers, Love, and Brilliant Asia.”
Additionally, there will be public flower demonstrations featuring Naoki Sasaki from Japan and artist Joo Heungmo from Korea. A youth floral arrangement skills competition, with participation from over 30 students nationwide, will also take place.
At the entrance to the exhibition hall, a 180-square-meter “Summer Forest Landscape” will be created as the main photo zone. The green entrance path, decorated with large trees and moss, is designed to stimulate the senses of visitors from the moment they enter, allowing them to experience nature within the city. This space is expected to become the symbolic area of this year’s event.
The exhibition is organized into several sections: the Theme Pavilion (“Flowers: Blooming Through Time”), Cheongra Award (a floral creation contest featuring 10 teams), Local Government Pavilion (including Gyeongsangbuk-do and the Goyang International Flower Expo), General Creation Pavilion (wildflowers, pressed flowers, succulents, horticultural therapy, and more), and the Flower & Home Deco Fair. In total, 148 companies will operate 783 booths.
Also drawing attention this year is the debut of the “Healing Industry Special Pavilion.” Jointly organized by Daegu Catholic University, the Daegu Urban Agriculture Forum, the Daegu branch of the Korea Horticultural Therapy Welfare Association, and the SM Radiology Health Promotion Center, this pavilion will introduce the scientific principles and industrial potential of horticultural therapy.
Within the special exhibition hall, there will be hands-on experiences such as a mini vegetable garden, a kids’ soil playground, and a smudge stick making zone. These attractions are expected to engage families and promote awareness of the public value of agriculture and healing agriculture, thereby laying the foundation for revitalizing the floriculture industry.
Various citizen participation programs will also be offered, including guided tours with floral interpreters, calligraphy, terrarium, and flower basket workshops, as well as social media hashtag and purchase certification events.
The expo is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., except on the final day, June 8, when it will close at 5 p.m. Admission is 10,000 won for adults, with a discounted price of 7,000 won available for advance reservations.
Hong Sungjoo, Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs of Daegu City, stated, “The Daegu Flower Expo is a cultural event that embodies the city’s sensibility and the healing power of agriculture, while also presenting future industrial possibilities. This year’s expo, together with the international floral design contest, will mark a new turning point for agriculture, encompassing industry, art, and daily life.”
