Mayor Shin Sangjin Meets with Jeongja 3-dong Residents to Announce Plans
Seongnam City to Launch New City Bus 395 and Extend Village Bus 117
Connecting to GTX-A at Seongnam Station... Enhanced Access to Seoul with Route 395
Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Shin Sangjin) will introduce a new city bus route 395 and extend and increase the number of village bus 117 vehicles to improve public transportation in the southern and eastern areas of Bundang.
On June 5, Mayor Shin Sangjin held a meeting with residents in the main auditorium on the second floor of the Jeongja 3-dong Administrative Welfare Center, where he announced these measures as solutions to various transportation complaints raised by residents.
City bus 395 will begin operation on July 1, starting from Ori Station, passing through Kkachimaeul and Hayanmaeul along Migeumil-ro, and connecting the areas around Bulgok Middle and High School and Bundang Jungang High School via Geumgok-ro and Buljeong-ro.
The route will then follow Baekhyeon-ro, pass through Pureunmaeul and Hansolmaeul, and continue to Seohyeon Station, Sunae Station, and Pangyo Station before terminating at Seongnam Station. By connecting major residential areas, educational facilities, and transportation hubs in southern and eastern Bundang, the route is expected to significantly improve mobility within the Bundang area.
This new route was established to address the inconvenience experienced by residents of Jeongja 3-dong Jeonwonmaeul and Jeongdeunmaeul when traveling to major hubs such as Jeongja Station, Sunae Station, and Seohyeon Station.
In particular, the demand for transportation between The Sharp Bundang Park River and Bulgok Middle and High School has increased since March this year, when Cheongsol Middle School was closed and students from Gumi-dong and Jeongja-dong were reassigned to Bulgok Middle School. The new route is expected to improve the commuting environment for these students.
Additionally, the route will reduce the inconvenience faced by Kkachimaeul and Hayanmaeul residents in accessing Ori Station, and will improve connections from Hansolmaeul and Pureunmaeul to Pangyo Station and Seongnam Station.
The southeastern Bundang areas, including Migeumil-ro, Geumgok-ro, and Buljeong-ro, have long suffered from a lack of metropolitan buses to Seoul Station, resulting in ongoing transportation complaints. However, due to Seoul City's bus quota system, it has been difficult to establish new direct routes. In response, Seongnam City has introduced route 395 as an alternative, enabling transfers to the GTX-A line at Seongnam Station. When the Seongnam Station to Seoul Station section opens in June 2026, passengers will be able to reach Suseo Station and Seoul Station in just two stops, making this a practical alternative for metropolitan transportation.
To expand routes in eastern Bundang, Seongnam City introduced village bus 109-2 with five vehicles in January, strengthening east-west feeder services. The new route 395 will complement this by providing a trunk line connecting major hub stations and north-south directions in the Gumi-dong, Jeongja-dong, and Sunae-dong areas, further improving accessibility in areas with relatively limited public transportation.
Initially, five vehicles will be deployed on route 395, with plans to expand to a total of ten vehicles after monitoring ridership for a certain period. In particular, the city plans to adjust operations so that buses run at approximately 10-minute intervals during rush hours.
At the same time, Seongnam City will also reorganize the village bus 117 route.
The endpoint of the existing route will be extended to strengthen connections from Baekhyeon-dong The Sharp Pangyo First Park, Jeongja 3-dong Jeonwonmaeul, and Jeongdeunmaeul to Jeongja Station and Sunae Station. The number of vehicles will increase from three to five, and the interval between buses during rush hours will be shortened to around 10 minutes. Notably, route 117 will operate in the opposite direction to the existing one-way loop of village bus 109, thereby improving access to Jeongja Station and Sunae Station.
The expansion of routes 395 and 117 is also expected to help accommodate the anticipated increase in student commuting demand ahead of Bundang Jungang High School's conversion to a science high school in March 2027.
Mayor Shin Sangjin stated, "This route reorganization is a comprehensive measure that reflects various resident complaints, strengthens connections between transportation-disadvantaged areas and major stations, and improves accessibility toward Seoul. We will continue to actively expand public transportation services to meet the expectations of our citizens."
