Opening Ceremony Held for Namyangju Mayor's Cup Dasan Jeong Yak-yong National Tennis Tournament

Fair Competition Until the 8th
1,200 Tennis Players from Across the Country Participate

On June 5, Namyangju City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwangdeok) held the opening ceremony of the '2025 Namyangju Mayor's Cup Dasan Jeong Yak-yong National Tennis Tournament' at the Namyangju Sports and Culture Center tennis court.

This tournament, hosted by the Namyangju Sports Council and organized by the Namyangju Tennis Association, was established to carry on the practical spirit and community values of Dasan Jeong Yak-yong, as well as to promote public health and the revitalization of sports for all citizens.


The opening ceremony was attended by key guests including Joo Gwangdeok, mayor of Namyangju, Yoon Sunghyun, president of the Namyangju Sports Council, Kim Jinsu, president of the Namyangju Tennis Association, and city council members, who encouraged and supported the participating athletes.


The tournament is divided into five categories: National Rookie Division, National Open Division, National Gaenari Division, National Gukhwa Division, and Local Senior Division. More than 1,200 athletes from across the country are expected to compete until June 8.


Mayor Joo Gwangdeok said, "I am very pleased to host such a prestigious tournament filled with friendship and partnership here in Namyangju," and added, "I hope this event will serve as a meaningful opportunity for tennis players from all over the country to form valuable connections with Namyangju."


President Kim Jinsu stated, "With tennis enthusiasts from all over the country gathering in Namyangju to compete, I believe this tournament will become a central pillar for the development of tennis in Korea." He also expressed his hope that "the tournament will set an example as a national competition through systematic management and orderly participation, and will serve as a positive catalyst for increased citizen participation in sports and greater cohesion within the local community."
