To Promote Distribution of Local Agricultural Products
and Regional Economic Development
Miryang City in Gyeongnam announced on June 9 that it recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Busan Gyeongnam Headquarters of Korea Expressway Corporation for the establishment of the 'Local Food Happiness Market' at the Miryang Yeongnamru Rest Area (toward Ulsan) in the small conference room at City Hall.
The agreement aims to promote the distribution of local agricultural products and the development of the regional economy. It was pursued to clarify the division of roles related to the establishment of the Local Food Happiness Market and to establish a mutual cooperation system between the two organizations.

Under the agreement, Miryang City will be responsible for the construction, operation, and management of the Local Food Happiness Market and its surrounding areas. The Busan Gyeongnam Headquarters of Korea Expressway Corporation will provide the site free of charge, cooperate in the construction process, and offer comprehensive support to vitalize the market.
The Local Food Happiness Market began construction in April and is currently under development. Once completed, it will be operated by Miryangmulsan, a wholly city-funded organization. In addition to officials from the city and Korea Expressway Corporation, the CEO of Miryangmulsan also attended the signing ceremony, reaffirming their commitment to smooth operations and close cooperation.
Kwon Woowon, Head of the Busan Gyeongnam Headquarters of Korea Expressway Corporation, stated, "Through mutual cooperation between Korea Expressway Corporation and Miryang City, we will open new sales channels for local agricultural products and provide a venue where expressway users can purchase high-quality produce. We will continue to strengthen our win-win partnership going forward."
Mayor Ahn Byeonggu said, "The Local Food Happiness Market will go beyond being a simple sales space, and will be developed as a complex cultural venue that re-highlights the value of local agriculture and allows citizens and visitors to communicate together. We will continue to implement various policies so that Miryang's agriculture and economy can grow together."
