The Gachon University Biohealthcare Convergence Research Institute opened its doors on the 5th.
On this day, Gachon University held an opening ceremony for the Gachon University Biohealthcare Convergence Research Institute at the university’s Vision Tower, aiming to serve as a hub for nurturing talent and driving technological innovation in the biohealth industry in Gyeonggi-do.
This opening ceremony was organized as part of the Biohealth Innovation Platform (Gyeonggi-do University Innovation Platform, GUIP) project led by Gyeonggi-do. Its purpose is to establish a foundation for fostering talent in advanced fields such as digital healthcare, artificial intelligence (AI) medical technology, and bio-medical devices, as well as to build a collaborative system among industry, academia, and research institutes.

With the establishment of this research institute, Gachon University plans to operate a practical, hands-on curriculum and a genuine industry-academia-research platform through collaboration with local companies. The university also aims to jointly create an open innovation ecosystem with Gyeonggi-do, positioning itself as a global hub for innovation in the biohealth industry.
Suh Wonsik, head of the Gachon University research institute, stated, "This opening goes beyond the mere launch of an institution. It marks the first step for the university to take the lead in building a sustainable biohealth innovation ecosystem that encompasses both industry and the local community." He added, "Gachon University will continue to do its utmost to responsibly operate a platform where industry, academia, and research can grow together."
