Supporting AI Startups' Entry into the North American Market
The Korea SMEs and Startups Agency announced that it held KOSME DAY (Korea AI Innovation Showcase in Seattle) at the Seattle Convention Center in the United States on the 4th (local time).
This event was co-hosted by the K-Startup Center (KSC) Seattle of the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency and the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Seattle. It was organized to support the entry of domestic artificial intelligence (AI) startups into the North American market, in response to the rapidly changing external environment such as intensified global technological competition and the spread of protectionism.

'Korea SMEs Day (KOSME DAY)' is an official day designated annually on June 4, following the declaration last year by the City of Seattle of a close cooperative relationship with the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency. The agency plans to institutionalize this day as a key event for entry into the North American market.
At the inaugural event last year, an MOU was signed to establish a foundation for cooperation between Korean and U.S. SMEs and startups, with exchanges focusing on green technology and the eco-friendly industry sector.
This year, the program focused on strategic technology fields such as the AI industry, and included technology pitching and networking sessions to practically assess the global scalability and marketability of domestic startups. The event was structured as a hands-on program emphasizing business matching.
In particular, as part of a collaborative project between Daejeon Metropolitan City and KSC Seattle, eight promising startups based in Daejeon were invited. Among them, six companies directly participated in the exhibition and pitching sessions, demonstrating a global expansion model for regional companies through the establishment of a cooperation system between local governments and public institutions' overseas bases.
Lee Byungchul, Vice President of the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency, stated, "We will continue to provide support so that domestic companies with technological capabilities can enter overseas markets in a stable manner through practical connections with the global investment ecosystem."
