Gwangju Seogu Selects Hyunkyung Park and Hyeongjin Seo as 'MVP Public Officials'

Contributions to the Spread of a Healthy Lifestyle Culture
and Improvement of the Traffic Environment

On June 5, Seogu District in Gwangju (headed by Mayor Kim Ikang) announced that Hyunkyung Park, Health Promotion Officer, and Hyeongjin Seo, Traffic Guidance Officer, had been selected as the 'MVP Public Officials' for the second quarter of 2025.

Hyunkyung Park, who was recognized in the field of district innovation, took the lead in spreading a healthy lifestyle culture by planning resident-participatory health programs such as barefoot walking and slow jogging and operating multiple resident clubs. In particular, through the 'Barefoot Youth School,' she trained 29 walking education instructors and connected them to work as lecturers. This achievement was also recognized externally, as it won the top prize in the presentation category at the 'Chronic Disease Project Planning Final Evaluation Contest' hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare in 2024.


Hyeongjin Seo, who was recognized in the field of public service, contributed to creating an orderly parking culture by establishing dedicated parking lots and operating a towing team to prevent accidents caused by indiscriminate parking of personal mobility devices (PMs). He also improved the traffic environment by cooperating with the Seobu Police Station to install visual guide posts to address the issues of vehicles crossing the center line and difficulties with vehicle passing.


At the award ceremony held on June 5, Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seogu District, stated, "The silent dedication of these two employees, who have worked diligently for the residents out of the public eye, has had a significant impact on the entire organization," and added, "Based on an organizational culture that respects those who strive, we will continue to create a warm administration and a competent public service culture."


Meanwhile, Seogu District's 'MVP Public Official System' is an internal reward system established to foster a fair and trustworthy organizational culture. Each quarter, one person is selected in each of the fields of district innovation and public service, and at the end of the year, a separate 'MVP of the Year' is chosen to boost morale and pride within the organization.
