Dongseo University Promotes Barrier-Free Content... 2025 Disabled Media Festival Concludes

A festival aimed at promoting barrier-free content was held at Dongseo University.

The Glocal University Project Group at Dongseo University (President Jang Je-guk) announced on June 5 that the '2025 Disabled Media Festival,' held from May 28 to 31, had concluded.

This year's festival was jointly organized by the Dongseo University Glocal University Project Group, the Korea Communications Commission, the Busan Center of the Korea Foundation for Media and Audience, the Busan Association for the Disabled, the Korean Film Council, and the Korean Film Archive. Under the theme "Media for All, All See Go," a variety of programs were held, including the Rose Theater, Rose Talk Show, and Rose Square.

The festival's opening ceremony was attended by Lee Jinsook, Chairperson of the Korea Communications Commission; Choi Chulho, President of the Korea Foundation for Media and Audience; Cho Changyong, President of the Busan Association for the Disabled; Kim Jeongsuk, Deputy Director of the Dongseo University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation; and Han Sangjun, Chairperson of the Korean Film Council.

Dongseo University operated the "Cinema in the Dark" program as a regionally integrated designated multi-living lab. This barrier-free content experience, where both visually impaired and non-disabled people watched independent films produced by film students in a completely darkened space, drew significant attention.

Lee Hyeondong, Professor of Computer Engineering at Dongseo University, said, "We have been producing the results of our cultural content education in barrier-free versions," and added, "Through the barrier-free living lab, we will create a cultural environment that everyone can enjoy together."

Cho Daesu, Head of the Glocal University Project Group, emphasized, "It is meaningful to have hosted the festival for nine consecutive years," and expressed hope that "the importance of media for people with disabilities will continue to spread."
