Over 20 Years Leading Samsung's US Memory Business
Executive Reshuffle Amid Expansion of North American Big Tech Market
Jim Elliot, who led Samsung Electronics' memory business in the United States for over 20 years as Executive Vice President of the Samsung Electronics Semiconductor (DS) Division North America Branch (DSA), has reportedly left the company.

On June 3, former Executive Vice President Elliot shared on social media, "For nearly 30 years, I have had the privilege of being part of an industry that never stops innovating, working as a team, and understanding customer needs. In every role I have taken on, what has always mattered most to me were the relationships and shared goals. My time at Samsung Semiconductor is a great example of that," he reflected. He also expressed his excitement about joining SanDisk as Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer.
He worked at Samsung Electronics for 24 years starting in 2001, leading the memory business in the United States. In particular, since 2021, he served as the head of the US Memory Business Division, overseeing sales and marketing activities for Samsung's memory business in the Americas. Recently, he represented Samsung as a speaker at external events such as 'FMS 2024' and 'Samsung Memory Tech Day 2023', showcasing semiconductor technology.
As the North American big tech market expands, it is interpreted that Samsung Electronics is also pursuing management innovation and shifting its North American strategy. Industry observers note that, with the need to secure new customers in the US big tech and next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductor sectors?including Nvidia, AMD, Tesla, and Amazon?there was an increased necessity to appoint dedicated executives.
Recently, Samsung Electronics' North America branch recruited Margaret Han, former Vice President of Global Purchasing and Procurement at NXP Semiconductors and previously with Taiwan's TSMC, the world's leading foundry (semiconductor contract manufacturing) company, as a senior executive overseeing the North American foundry business. She is known as a foundry expert, having worked at TSMC for 21 years and leading North American business and customer relations.
