Can Be Charged Anywhere with Just a 220V Outlet and Charging Cable
Fully Charged in 4 Hours, Up to 60.6 km Range
Daedong Mobility announced on June 5 that it will launch the electric scooter 'GS100 Lite Plug-in,' which can be charged anywhere using a 220V outlet via charging accessories (charging jack and charging cradle).
The domestic electric scooter market is divided by charging method into battery swapping, where users pay a fee at battery swap stations (BSS) and replace the battery, and the plug-in method, where users charge using accessories with a standard 220V household outlet. Currently, about 60% of the approximately 1,900 BSS units installed nationwide are concentrated in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. As a result, Daedong Mobility has launched this plug-in model targeting non-metropolitan markets, as well as office workers and small business owners who do not require BSS infrastructure.
The GS100 Lite Plug-in can be charged by connecting the scooter's built-in battery to a 220V household outlet using a portable dedicated charging cable, or by removing the battery from the scooter and charging it with a dedicated cradle. It takes 4 hours for a full charge, and the maximum driving range is 60.6 km. Notably, since it uses household electricity rates for charging, users can save up to approximately 1.5 million KRW annually compared to internal combustion engine scooters, based on 50,000 km of driving per year. Additionally, this product features a 92% localization rate by using domestically produced core components such as the electric motor, tires, suspension, and braking system, ensuring differentiated quality compared to Chinese electric scooters.
Moon Junho, Head of the Mobility Business Division at Daedong Mobility, stated, "We decided to launch the GS100 Lite Plug-in to expand our market share outside of Seoul and Gyeonggi Province and to meet the diverse needs of customers." He added, "By September, we plan to expand the number of sales agencies from 70 to 110, thereby strengthening our customer contact points and market dominance in Korea."
