Discussions are set to begin in earnest for Busan Port to become a key hub of the eco-friendly Arctic route.
Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Song Sanggeun) will host the 'Eco-friendly Arctic Route Forum' at 2 p.m. on June 10 at the Busan Port International Exhibition & Convention Center (BPEX).
This forum is jointly organized with the Korea Maritime Institute (KMI), Korea Polar Research Institute (KOPRI), and Korea Research Institute of Ships & Ocean Engineering (KRISO). The event will focus on exploring solutions for how Busan Port should respond to the era of the Arctic route from policy, technology, and industry perspectives.
The forum will begin with a keynote speech by Shin Hyungchul, Director of KOPRI, titled 'Conditions for Eco-friendly and Green Utilization of the Arctic Route,' followed by presentations from Kim Eomji, Director at KMI, and Lee Myeongho, General Manager at Polaris Shipping.
The designated discussion will be moderated by Hong Giyong, Director of KRISO, who will lead an in-depth discussion with experts.
A BPA representative stated, "We will work together with the public and private sectors to develop strategies so that Busan Port can become both the gateway to the Arctic route and a hub for eco-friendly maritime logistics."
