The Seoul RISE project was established to address the joint crisis faced by regions and universities due to rapid changes in population and industrial structures, and to emphasize the proactive role of universities in regional development. The project consists of five major initiatives and twelve unit projects, with the following goals: strengthening global university competitiveness, reinforcing the foundation for Seoul’s strategic industries, promoting co-growth with the local community, enhancing lifelong and vocational education, and fostering university startups.

This year, a total of 54 general and vocational universities in Seoul applied for the project. Of these, 35 universities (a selection rate of 65%) were ultimately chosen. Dongduk Womens University formed a consortium with Seongbuk District Office, Jongno District Office, Seongbuk Cultural Foundation, and the Seoul Northern Center of the Small Enterprise and Market Service, and will implement two unit projects within two initiatives.

First, the "Co-Growth with Local Community" project is led by Professor Kang Sumi from the Department of Painting at Dongduk Womens University. This project aims to promote intergenerational exchange and cooperation within the community and to revitalize local commercial districts and ease social conflicts through detailed programs such as "Generations Together for Commercial Area Improvement," "Generations Together for Skill Exchange," and "Generations Together Festival."

The second initiative, "Enhancing Lifelong and Vocational Education," is led by Professor Lee Chanhee from the Department of Finance and Convergence Management. Dongduk Womens University plans to leverage the unique characteristics of the northeastern (Seongbuk), central (Jung-gu), and southeastern (Gangnam) regions of Seoul, along with the university’s educational strengths, to provide field-oriented vocational training for adult learners and open learning courses for the general public.

A representative from Dongduk Womens University stated, "The university will successfully promote the Seoul RISE project based on close collaboration with the local community," and added, "We will realize our vision of growing together with the region."
