As early as November, an artificial intelligence (AI) agent-based chatbot service will be introduced on the Gyeonggi Provincial Government website, making it more convenient for residents to use the site.
On June 5, Gyeonggi Province announced at a project kickoff meeting that it will implement the "Gyeonggi Provincial Government Website Generative AI Chatbot Service Development Project."
The AI agent-based chatbot will first be applied to areas with high user demand, such as official notices and announcements, welfare services, major provincial policies, and recruitment information. The province plans to expand the service to additional areas based on user feedback and performance.
Previously, users had to search for the information they wanted and open and check each post individually, which was inconvenient. In addition, the website primarily provided information in Korean, limiting access for foreigners.
The newly introduced chatbot will analyze users' questions first and automatically select and respond using predefined agents tailored to the role and purpose according to the nature and topic of the question, forming an AI-based response system.
The chatbot will understand users' questions in natural language and provide real-time information by checking and summarizing necessary details?such as eligibility requirements, procedures, and deadlines?from various sources.
This approach offers higher accuracy and connectivity than traditional search-based chatbots, and its purpose-driven service delivery significantly improves accessibility to and usability of administrative information.
Gyeonggi Province plans to complete system design and testing by October, and begin offering the service to residents through the Gyeonggi Provincial Government website in November.
Kim Kibyung, Director of the AI Bureau at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "As generative AI services become more widespread, accessibility and usability for information search, summarization, and task handling in various information services are being dramatically improved. We will continue to expand the agent-based AI chatbot service to all areas of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government website to make it even more convenient and useful for users."
