Launched in 2010, 'Global Volunteer Week' is a special week of volunteering during which POSCO Group employees practice sharing together. The event has continued steadily for 16 years.

This year, more than 20,000 employees from the group, both in Korea and abroad, participated in around 800 volunteer activities across 30 countries, extending a helping hand of warmth and generosity.

On May 22, President Lee Heegeun took part in support activities for farms affected by wildfires in Yeongdeok. On May 23, Pohang Steelworks Head Lee Dongryul and other plant heads also actively participated in Global Volunteer Week by visiting the March 1st Independence Movement Memorial Hall and engaging in environmental cleanup activities.

In particular, Pohang Steelworks fulfilled its corporate social responsibility throughout the local community, with over 1,300 employees?including the Talent Volunteer Group, various departments and factories, and general volunteer teams?conducting volunteer activities at more than 100 locations.

Key volunteer activities included: taking longevity photos for seniors in nine villages in Daljeon, Heunghae-eup; collecting plastic waste and discarded fishing gear in the Ulleung County area together with the Marine Police; coastal cleanup at Yonghan-ri Beach in Heunghae-eup; and providing daily necessities kits to residents affected by wildfires in Yeongdeok, alongside other village cleanup efforts.

In addition, Pohang Steelworks continued a variety of volunteer activities such as conducting robot-making classes at local children's centers, delivering calligraphy postcards, planting hydrangeas at Hwanho Park, painting the exterior walls of senior centers, and renovating outdated facilities at village halls.

A Pohang Steelworks representative stated, "Through this 2025 Global Volunteer Week, we were able to share precious hope with the local community, which has been facing many difficulties such as wildfire damage. We hope that the love shared by Pohang Steelworks employees will provide even a small amount of comfort to our neighbors' daily lives."

In March, POSCO Group donated 2 billion KRW in relief funds for wildfire recovery and support for disaster victims in the Yeongnam region. Pohang Steelworks also provided 'Emergency Relief Kits for Wildfire Victims' containing essential daily items such as hygiene products, blankets, and emergency food supplies.
