Lee Donghwan, mayor of Goyang Special City, reviewed the progress of rapid execution for the first half of 2025 at the executive meeting on the 4th. As of the end of May, the rapid execution performance stood at 653.6 billion KRW, ranking fourth among the 31 cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province. By the end of June, it is projected that 896.3 billion KRW will be executed, which is expected to achieve 126.3% of the target.

On this day, Mayor Lee presided over the executive meeting in the 20th-floor conference room of the Baekseok Annex, with 36 executives in attendance, including the first and second deputy mayors.
First, regarding the 21st presidential election, Mayor Lee expressed his appreciation to the staff responsible for election operations. He said, "I sincerely thank everyone who devoted themselves to their duties, from early voting to the main voting and ballot counting support, despite the long working hours." He also requested, "For major pledges of the president-elect that are directly linked to the city administration, please thoroughly identify them in advance, review cost estimates and feasibility, and establish implementation plans so that the city can proactively respond."
Additionally, marking Patriots and Veterans Month in June, Mayor Lee delivered a message honoring the noble sacrifices of the patriots and fallen heroes. He stated, "Today's peace and prosperity have been built upon their noble sacrifices," and added, "I hope you will once again reflect on your responsibilities and mission as public officials."
Furthermore, Mayor Lee noted, "There are cases where signals at crosswalks with low pedestrian usage remain green for a long time, causing inconvenience as nearby vehicle traffic is delayed." He requested, "Please consider implementing smart traffic systems that citizens can experience, such as installing pedestrian detection sensors or signal request buttons."
Regarding the transition to eco-friendly energy, Mayor Lee mentioned the current status of electric vehicle adoption. He said, "Now that electric vehicle adoption has reached a certain level, it is time to shift our focus to increasing citizens' trust in safety and sustainability." He urged, "Please actively consider campaigns and other initiatives to raise awareness as part of our efforts to lead the era of energy transition."
With the monsoon season approaching, Mayor Lee also emphasized the importance of thorough disaster preparedness. He stated, "Prevention and preparation are the best measures against disasters," and added, "Each department should thoroughly check vulnerable areas in advance and refine response systems to ensure flawless preemptive measures."
Meanwhile, prior to the meeting, Mayor Lee personally handed out the 'Goyang City Badge,' which symbolizes the city, to the executives. The badge features the city's geography within a circle representing unity, along with the city slogan, symbolically expressing Goyang's identity and vision. This badge will also be distributed to new public officials this year, and the city plans to use this design for tourism souvenirs such as magnets in the future.
