Held for All Employees in Celebration of Environmental Education Week
On June 4, the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education held the "Yonggi Nae Campaign" for all employees in the lobby on the first floor of its main building, aiming to promote environmental conservation and resource circulation.
This campaign was launched as part of the "Environmental Education Week," which is organized for one week including Environment Day (June 5) in accordance with the Environmental Education Act. The initiative was designed to help the educational community recognize the seriousness of environmental issues and encourage practical climate action.

With the slogan "Great! Because We Can Learn, Enjoy, and Share," the campaign focused on the theme "Use Reusable Products - Yonggi Nae." The theme delivers a dual message: encouraging the use of reusable containers and inspiring people to have the "courage" (yonggi) to take action for the environment.
The campaign consisted of two programs: the "Tumbler Sharing Campaign" and the "Yonggi Naen Ja Popcorn Event." In the "Tumbler Sharing Campaign," employees donated unused tumblers, which were then distributed to those in need. Some of the collected tumblers were sent to Beautiful Store and resource recycling companies for reuse. To encourage participation, donors were entered into a raffle to receive small prizes.
In the "Yonggi Naen Ja Popcorn Event," participants received popcorn in their own tumblers or cups. This activity was designed to help employees experience the importance of using reusable containers instead of disposable products. Many employees participated, demonstrating strong interest and commitment.
The campaign emphasized not only participation but also the importance of ongoing action. The Office of Education presented scientific evidence, stating, "A tumbler emits 24 times more greenhouse gases than a paper cup and 13 times more than a plastic cup from production to disposal. To have a meaningful environmental impact, it must be used at least 220 times."
Additionally, until June 5, the Office is exhibiting outstanding entries from the "Path of Coexistence Project Challenge Idea Contest" at the same location, sharing creative climate action ideas proposed by the educational community.
The Office of Education plans to expand various educational programs and campaigns to encourage environmental practices in daily life, taking this Environmental Education Week as an opportunity. In particular, it will strengthen ecological transition education, focusing on practical actions closely related to daily life, such as the use of reusable containers.
Kim Daejung, Superintendent of Jeonnam Education, stated, "Small actions add up to become a great force in responding to the climate crisis," and added, "Jeonnam Education will spread climate action that connects learning and practice through environmental education that is learned, enjoyed, and shared."
