Professor Park Jungwan of Soonchunhyang University Hospital Selected for "Physician-Scientist Postdoctoral Research Support Project"

Research Funding of 550 Million KRW Provided Until December 2027

Soonchunhyang University Cheonan Hospital announced on June 4 that Professor Park Jungwan of the Department of Infectious Diseases has been selected for the "Physician-Scientist Postdoctoral Research Growth Support Project" organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

This project aims to discover promising early-career physician-scientists who conduct basic and translational research based on clinical experience, and to promote creative convergence research by linking the basic and clinical fields.

Professor Park Jungwan will conduct research under the theme "Discovery and Efficacy Evaluation of Antiviral Drug Candidates via Double-Stranded RNA Inhibition." He will receive 550 million KRW in research funding until December 2027.

Through his research, he plans to develop next-generation antiviral agents that enhance therapeutic effects by inhibiting double-stranded RNA, which plays a key role in viral infections.

Professor Park stated, "I plan to establish a research foundation that proposes a new paradigm for the treatment of viral diseases and connects to potential future clinical applications. As a physician-scientist, I will faithfully serve as a bridge between clinical and basic research."
